EasyJet, Scotland’s largest airline, has this week announced that it will introduce Aberdeen’s only scheduled flights to Geneva. The new route to Switzerland launches on 13 December and will operate weekly until April 2015 to help Scottish skiers reach some of the world’s best slopes.
Flights to Geneva went on sale this morning at www.easyJet.com with fares starting from £40.99* per person. easyJet will operate the flights using a 156 seater Airbus A319 and expects to carry over 3,500 passengers to and from Geneva throughout the winter.
Ali Gayward, Commercial Manager for easyJet, said: “We’re pleased to add an exciting, new European destination to our Aberdeen network – taking our total volume of flights up to 40 per week during winter. We believe the beautiful City of Geneva will be a popular choice with holidaymakers looking for a break at Lake Geneva and skiers seeking easy and affordable access to Europe’s slopes.”
Carol Benzie, Managing Director Aberdeen Airport, said: “It is great news that the winter ski market can be served from Aberdeen thanks to this new service from easyJet. There are a lot of keen skiers in this area used to accessing local ski resorts with ease, and I am confident that they will make the most of this opportunity to hit the slopes on the continent over the winter months. We wish easyJet success with the route.” Geneva is easyJet’s 3rd destination from Aberdeen Airport, alongside daily flights to London Luton and London Gatwick.
